Seville & Cordoba

This weekend I went on a group excursion with my program ISA to the cities of Seville and Cordoba. I loved them both! It was a blast to explore these amazing places and soak up the sunny warm weather. We spent two nights in Seville and saw the Palace and Cathedral, stuffed my face with my friends Jess and Caroline in the best little Italian restaurant, soaked in the city lights along the river, and walked around for hours. We spend Sunday in the windy streets of Cordoba, visiting La Mezquita (the biggest Mosque in the world) and admiring the pretty flower pots hanging off all the walls of the buildings. It was a wonderful weekend. I love the vibe that all of Andalusia has to offer.

  1. Okay . . . these pics are awesome!!!!! (You and your brother are becoming great photographers. Have you seen the pics on his facebook page?) The 3rd one on your March 11 post – the one with the two doves in the tree. Did you know that doves mate for life? It’s true! So, says your Uncle Scott (Delzell). That’s what I though of when I saw that picture.
Paris, France!!!! Is Norte Dame not the most amazing sight you’ve ever seen! I was blown away. I just stood there staring at it. You and Cole look like you had a great time.
Are there any pics of the place where your staying? How about your host parents?
Miss ya! Hope you’re having a great time with your brother and your parents!
    Love ya!

Beautiful pictures! I also studied abroad in Andalucia four years ago, in Malaga. I have been to Granada twice now (and seen the Alhambra both times). I have been to Cordoba and Sevilla several times now too. For the past 2 years I’ve been living in Madrid and I love living in Spain. I’m leaving in September and I hope to visit Granada one last time–my former roommate is from there and she graciously agreed to host me whenever I wanted to come visit. Have a great time enjoying your study abroad experience!

What a treat to see your post. I lived in Seville in the early 70s, but haven’t been back. Your pics brought back many fond memories of the places and the people. I was especially fond of a little place south of Seville called Moron del la Fronterra. There was a wonderful singer who lived there and folks from all over came to hear him sing. His name was Diego de Gastor, but he has past on. Lots of wonderful memories. Thanks.

This is a vary interesting blog. The photography has warmth to the photographs and I can feel the passion of the artist within the images. I want to recognize this blog because it is helpful and refreshing to see what is out in the world. Just by caring a camera everywhere you go can bring awareness of what is being overlooked. Trust me you will not walk away empty handed. The images will be your treasures from your adventure that day. I believe this artist walked away with some fascinating images that remind me how interesting the world is and why I am studying as a photographer.

  47. Meghan says:

I studied abroad in Córdoba during college and absolutely loved it. La mezquita, all the little shops, the sloping cobblestone streets, the wide bridges over the river, little grocery stores, flower boxes, the university where I took classes… too much to put down in a little space like this. I was there during la Feria, where they set up an enormous carnival of tents and rides and had fireworks… it happens every spring and I wish I could be there to see it this year. I still think about that semester all the time, and seeing your photos made me both very happy and a little sad and wistful – I hope I can make it back there one day. I have pictures standing just where you are!
Crazy how big the world is, yet with pictures like yours how small and familiar it can become. Congrats on FP!

  52. I’ve been to Cordoba and Seville and will never forget their beauty. I love your photo of the orange trees as I was there when Seville smelled of orange blossoms…impossibly romantic. Your pix of the Mezquita are gorgeous and I love the black and white of the musicians.

  53. As an American living in Seville, your photos are making me want to grab my camera and head to the center. Lovely shots.

  54. Lovely shots of a city I’m lucky to call home!

  55. I was in Spain in 2008 (Wow, that seems so long ago now) and we went to Seville and Cordoba as well. These pictures bring it back as if it were yesterday. Unfortunately I lost all my photos in a computer crash so it was lovely seeing these.

Great photos! You guys look like you were having a lot of fun (gotta say I love seeing women who aren’t afraid to get in front of the damned camera already, I have way too many friends who absolutely refuse to have their photo taken, and it’s irritating as hell when you’re trying to save a few mementos from a fun event that involves them!) My favorite photo is the lock and keys – so much more stylish than the boring combination lock I own!

  91. Granada, your soul city…that makes me happy. I ended up spending 7 more days than planned in Granada and went back for two more to wrap up my trip. One of my favorites was the bustling blue collar Cosmos Churreria that we ate and had coffee at every morning. We made countless friends in Granada. Cheers.

The Mezquita is without a doubt, the highlight of Corboba. The stunning architecture enhances the magical and mystical beauty of the mosque. The white-washed walls of the quaint little town and narrow cobblestone roads, delights as you navigate your way past many little cafes and souvenir shops. A little town often left off the Spanish itinerary, but one worth visiting. Thanks for sharing your journey and beautiful photos.

I really enjoyed this blog entry. It was like visiting another world. I lived my whole life in Southeast Asia so I never get tired of blogs like this. I once named a heroine in a(n unfinished) novel Seville; I reasoned if I gave her the name of a place it would hint at how her location is the driving force of the story. (Sorry if that was too random, haha.) Anyhoo, the pictures you posted gave me another reason to add this to my bucket list. 🙂

  131. I needed to compose you the

little remark to finally say thanks once again for those
    unique tactics

you’ve documented on this page. It’s simply tremendously generous of people like you giving without
    restraint

precisely what numerous people could have offered
for an electronic book in making some bucks for

their own end, principally considering the

    fact that you could have

tried it if you ever wanted. The thoughts

    likewise acted to

    become easy way to be

    sure that someone else

    have the identical dreams just

like my personal own to figure out more pertaining to
    this problem.

I am sure there are lots of more fun sessions up front for individuals who scan your website.

  132. Valentina says:

You completed several good points there. I did a search on the

    subject matter and found mainly

people will agree with your blog.
